Ayşenur KILIÇ graduated from Middle East Technical University in 2015 and she has been working as an English teacher for four years. Her teaching experience officially started in a small village in Kars and she worked there for two years with secondary school students. Kars is a very small city in Eastern Turkey and it’s mostly famous for its harsh weather conditions. Most of her students came from low-income families in farming communities. It was clear that they were in need of education. After her experience in Kars, she worked in several different places but the days in Kars were very special because, in her words, she really had a chance to grow up herself when she realized that she was able to touch the lives of many little children.
This speech was made as part of a panel on November 24th, 2017, celebrated as Teachers’ Day in Turkey. Ayşenur talked about her teaching experience and her little students in Kars.
